Does WAA sponsor the laying of wreaths on Confederate grave sites?

As an organization whose mission is to Remember, Honor, Teach, we place wreaths to honor the service and sacrifice of the young men and women who leave their families, and give up so much in their call to service. In 1958, Congress passed Public Law 85-425 which amended the Veterans’ Benefits Act of 1957 and stated, “…the term ‘veteran’ includes a person who served in the military or naval forces of the Confederate States of America during the Civil War, and the term ‘active, military or naval service’ includes active service in such forces.”

“Wreaths Across America works with many public and private organizations with a statutory interest that promotes honorable military service and honors veterans and Confederate soldiers as permitted by law. Our goal is to encourage Americans to learn about the many examples of American Valor throughout our history.”
